About
I graduated from the University of Tartu in classical philology in 1997, received my M.A. degree in classical philology in 2000 and Ph.D. in 2007, both from the University of Tartu. My doctoral thesis is titled "Character description and invective: Peripatetics between ethics, comedy and rhetoric".
I have worked at the University of Tartu since 1997, at first as an Adjunct Assistant, in 1999-2001 as a Project Manager and since 2002 as a Research Fellow. From 1 March 2008 until 29 February 2012 I was a half-time Research Fellow at the Department of Classical Philology and a half-time Research Fellow at the Research Centre of Tartu University Library. Since 1 March 2012 I work as Editor-in-Chief of Tartu University Press, while maintaining a 0.1 Research Fellow position at the Department of Classical Philology.
My research interests include the representation of ideologies, mentalities and social identities in antiquity, Peripatetic school and tradition, Greek comedy, Greek oratory and rhetoric, Latin epigram and satire, Greek and Latin epistolography, papyrology, classical tradition, history of classical studies, and digital classics.
I am the managing editor of "Studia Humaniora Tartuensia", an international open access online journal of the classics and the humanities (http://sht.ut.ee/ ). Help develop open access scholarship and submit your paper to this journal! All submissions are anonymously peer-reviewed.
As the Editor-in-Chief of Tartu University Press, I also welcome book proposals from all fields of study. Feel free to contact me!
